LISTEN

Brazilian singer Simone Santos has had a varied musical career, from her first steps at the Escola de Musica de Brasilia to the present day. With a tireless passion for Brazilian music, Simone Santos is a versatile artist who captivates audiences wherever she performs.

Since her early years in Brasilia, Simone Santos has dedicated herself to projects in the fields of Brazilian Bossa Nova and Jazz Brasil, as well as traditional Brazilian folk music.

In the mid-2000s, Simone Santos was one of the founders and members of the first formation of the group Casa de Farinha, a recognized project dedicated to the appreciation and exploration of Brazil's cultural diversity. The group's work was very well received by the public and stood out for its authentic interpretation of traditional rhythms from different regions of Brazil.

In search of new opportunities and challenges, Simone Santos moved to Switzerland in 2001, where she is still a resident today. There she completed a second degree in Latin, Pop and Jazz singing and dedicated herself to her solo career.

During her career in Switzerland, Simone Santos has participated as singer, guitarist and composer in various formations, including Lariba (septet), Santos Quartet, Simone Santos Band (quintet), Gafieira Alpina (quintet/sextet) and Jazz Via Brasil (special participation). These collaborations have allowed her to promote Brazilian music in different regions of Switzerland and in European countries such as Germany, Italy, France, Norway, Holland, Spain, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia, and to participate in prestigious festivals such as the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and the Sziget Festival in Budapest. Simone Santos has also performed for North American audiences, including at SOB's in New York and in Miami at the Global Cuba Fest Miami in March 2015.

Today, in addition to concerts, she teaches vocals, guitar and workshops for Brazilian and Latin American popular music, with a focus on rhythmic percussive music, and is a vocal and guitar teacher at Swiss music schools.

In the second half of 2023, Simone Santos will release her first solo EP entitled "Sete Chaves" with the musicians Jodok Hess (piano), Patrick Sommer (bass) and Florian Reichle (drums). With this album, the singer establishes herself as a composer with previously unreleased compositions and also convinces as a performer with "Pra quem quiser me visitar" by the great Brazilian composer and guitarist Guinga.

Sete Chaves will soon be available on all digital platforms.
